Former Jefferson County Commission president, Larry Langford, has be sentenced and charged in a bribery scheme. According to reports, he will get 15 years in prison and he has been ordered to pay his back taxes immediately.

The long-running bribery scheme consisted of Langford sending more than $7 million in county bond business to Montgomery investment banker Bill Blount. He would get back $241,843 worth of bribe money.

Langford is ordered to pay $119,985 in restitution to the IRS. He is to forfeit the $241,843 back to the government.

Langford will report to prison on April 5, 2010. He's been allowed to be out on bond until then. He is not to leave Jefferson County and must meet with his probation officer twice a week. (c) tPC
